Our family is reaching out during a very difficult time to ask for help.
On February 28th my dad, Michael Smoot, woke up in the night with severe pain in his chest and left arm. My mom rushed him to the ER and he was transferred to a hospital in the cities where he could receive proper cardiac care and evaluation. The doctors determined he did not have a heart attack but was very close. On March 4th he underwent a triple bypass surgery and is now in the hospital beginning what will be a long and challenging recovery. While we are incredibly grateful that the surgery was successful, the road ahead will include significant healing time, medical care, and financial strain.
Anyone who knows my dad knows the kind of person he is. He is loyal, kind, and the type of man who can turn a stranger into a friend within minutes. He has always been the person others can count on. Ready to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply show up when someone needs him. He is a giver in every sense of the word, always putting others before himself.
His faith is also at the center of who he is. As a Christian, he lives his life guided by compassion, generosity, and love for others. Many people apart of his church family know this well.
Right now, our family is asking for help on his behalf. As he focuses on healing and regaining his strength, we want to ease the burden of the medical bills and time away from work that come with such a major surgery.
If you are able to donate, share this page, or simply keep him in your prayers, it would mean the world to us. Every bit of support helps and reminds us that the same kindness my dad has given to so many is coming back to him during this time.
Thank you for being part of his support system and for helping our family through this journey of healing.
