Mike’s Story:

After 3(+) years in the Lung Transplant Program due to stage 4 COPD and a burned lung from his volunteer fire-fighting days; Mikes Blessing has come through!

A Generous Donor has given him the gift of LIVING out his life! The Generosity of the donor does NOT go unnoticed and he’s thankful every day.

In his words “He will hold these lungs close to his heart”

Mike is a beloved Father, Grandfather, Family Member and Friend to so many. Not only does he maintain life long friendships with his Bennington family, but has also served the Brattleboro community in police work for the last 32 years.

During that time and beyond, he has nurtured relationships not only with his friends and family, but is also known to “support the underdog.”

He is known well for his selflessness and always wants to help those who are less fortunate.

Mike’s long journey began about 10 years ago. Out of humility and desire to be present for his family and grandchildren, he coped with his medical issues silently and humbly.

Now it’s his turn to enjoy life; build that camp with his grandson Cooper. Fly to Colorado to spend time with his Son Aaron and Daughter in Law Sarah. Take his Korabelle to a waterpark. Golf with his life long Bennington buddies (He’s coming for you!) Throw a party for his family & friends, without the stress of the health set backs….. (Take his daughter to Asia, as he promised if he received lungs, to experience Asian Street Food? Hmmm… :)

With all that said, the road to recovery from a major surgery is NOT for the weak. He has many obstacles ahead and we cannot fully predict how his road to recovery will go.

Mike has incredible will to push through and with the support of his community and loved ones, he will see this generous gift through.

Donations to the go fund me will support unforeseen medical bills, living expenses for post transplant rehab, as well as travel expenses for the care team, as he powers through this long road to recovery.
