I just got out of the hospital twice in the last month for heart failure and related problems, such as kidney and liver damage. I'm left living with heart function at only 30% and it is very hard to do simple day to day chores as I live alone and have no one close by that can help except on occasional visits from my son. He does what he can to help, but he has his own life and responsibilities to tend to. My cheap health insurance covered next to nothing of the cost, which just topped over $40,000 for both stays. To add insult to injury, my missed time at work has reduced my income to next to zero. I am in the process of applying for disability, but that can take 6 months to a year to go into effect. I'm not asking for the whole amount I owe, if I can get on disability Medicare should cover a lot of that cost, but until then I have almost nothing to live on. My family has been able to help a bit, but none us have much to spare. I have been putting a lot of expenses on credit but now that's close to used up and I have no savings left.

My whole life I have done my best to help others. I cared for both of my grandparents and my father thru home healthcare and thru home hospice care for them all. I sacrificed a lot for family, and while my family is doing their best to help me, it's my turn to ask for your help. I have my pride, and would not dream of doing this if I had any other choice, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
