Hi my name is Rachelle. I am fundraising for my sister Melinda and her partner Michael. These two have had a tough few months. It began in early October with Michael waking up in the middle of the night and collapsing. He suddenly lost feeling and control of his lower body. With this, he had intense shooting pains from his back down to his legs. Over the next few days, the condition progressed until he lost all feeling in his legs becoming paralyzed from the waist down. During his time in the hospital and weeks in a rehabilitation center, an exact diagnosis was not able to be made. It wasn't until recently that doctors have confirmed his condition. He has been diagnosed with Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculopathy or Guillan Barre syndrome. The recovery time is unknown.

This has put a very big strain financially on their family as Michael had to shut down his independent handyman business and isn't able to work. They were able to make ends meet until recently. Unfortunately, they are now struggling due to learning how to live with Michael's diagnoses as well as the cost of living on 1 income. As a family of 5 they do not meet the criteria for any available services in a situation like this as they have been declined for everything they have applied for. With Michael being newly disabled along with a 6 month old baby and 2 other children, you can see how difficult this time is for my sister and Michael. My hope is to raise enough money to get them through this tough time. Any help, big or small, would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
