Help Michael and Megan’s healing and recovery

Life changed in an instant…..

This is the story of Michael and Megan Tieszen’s date night on Saturday, July 19th.

It was a night of celebrating milestones, dinner, cupcakes, and a little shopping. Michael and Megan were waiting to turn left off of Elm Creek Blvd in downtown Maple Grove. The arrow turned green and Megan told Michael, “It’s green, you can go.” The next second, a car came speeding through the red light and T-boned their van, pinning Megan inside. Chaos, confusion, and trauma all ensued as bystanders came to their aid before first responders arrived on the scene. Michael forced his way out of the driver’s side and struggled to help his wife as she screamed in pain. Three men came to help him, and they were able to get the door open and get her out. Both were rushed and admitted to the hospital. Megan suffered multiple fractures in her pelvis and a broken finger. Michael was banged up and had damage to his knee. Their “new” van that they had just purchased from Michael’s grandparents was completely destroyed.

Megan is in for a long recovery, and Michael is struggling to walk. They will be unable to work for the immediate future. At home, and thankfully not in the vehicle at the time, they have 3-year-old Sam and 4-month-old Shayla. These children need their mom and dad….

….and their mom and dad need your help.

We are hoping to raise funds for them to compensate for lost wages, a new vehicle, replacing car seats, any medical expenses not covered by insurance, and other daily expenses that may arise.

They have a strong family support system, yet finances will be needed to get them through. We know a village of family, friends, and friends of family all coming together to help will be such an encouragement to them as they navigate this temporary “new normal.”
