Michael went to the ER in late September for pain related to a kidney stone. While at the hospital they discovered a mass in Michael’s kidney which they told him was likely renal cell carcinoma. It can’t be known whether the mass is cancerous without surgery. Michael is now scheduled to have the kidney stone removed endoscopically on October 25th, at which point they will schedule the next surgery in Santa rosa to have the mass fully removed and biopsied.

This family is already stretched financially. The burden of medical expenses, travel expenses, and missing work to recover from surgery is enormous for them. Out of pocket medical expenses alone will be over $10,000, and could be more if the mass in Michael’s kidney turns out to be cancerous.
