In April 2025, my life changed overnight. What started as a trip to the ER for a minor head wound and slurred speech quickly became something much more serious. After a series of scans and a biopsy, I was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. The tumor is aggressive and has spread to multiple areas, leaving me with limited treatment options. The standard recommendation was radiation and chemotherapy, with a life expectancy of just one year.
My family in Minnesota discovered a new hope through a holistic doctor and the Right to Try Program. This program allows for a personalized vaccine therapy, designed specifically for my tumor using my own DNA. The results from this treatment have been very promising for others in similar situations. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover these costs. To pursue this chance, I sold my car and personal belongings, donated what I could, and moved from Arizona to Minnesota to be with my family and start care at Between the Bridges Healing Center. The vaccine and related treatments are expensive, and as a senior on a limited pension, I need help to cover these costs.
Before my diagnosis, I spent 19 years teaching Red Cross First Aid and CPR classes, training over 11,000 students to respond to emergencies. My hope is that, with this treatment, I can stabilize my health and return to helping others—whether by teaching again or supporting my family and community. Your support will help me access this life-changing therapy and give me the chance to regain my life and continue making a difference.
