Help Micahi's Fight for a New Kidney
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shauna and I'm writing on behalf of my family today. I have 4 kids (which two are disabled) and one of my disabled kids is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Micahi has been on dialysis since he was 3 months old and now he is 9 years old. Just recently, we were told that dialysis is not working as well and that his membranes have a lot of scar tissue. This is causing him to take dialysis for 16 hours in order to clear his body of the toxins we normally deplete through other methods. The thought of his membranes completely giving out and him not being able to take dialysis anymore is unbearable. The only other option is a kidney transplant. So we will fight til the very end!! This has been a long journey and giving up is not an option and I will do whatever I have to to be a strong MoM for Micahi with God's help!!
I am the one who does dialysis for him and was able to manage and still work full time. However, now that he needs 16 hours of dialysis, I had to resign from my job. He is in dire need for a kidney transplant and has to go to Houston Children's Hospital to be evaluated on June 26th. We have been trying to get on the transplant list since 2015. Traveling back and forth to Houston, countless appointments take funds we do not have right now.
We are asking for the funds to be able to manage the expenses of going to the Children's Hospital in Houston and also to make sure we have somewhere to come back home to. He is dependent on a stable place to live while conducting peritoneal dialysis. Houston is the only hospital that will take his complex case. Among End Stage Renal Failure my son has a host of issues going on with his body. Anything will help, and we are very grateful for every prayer, donation, suggestion, and kind acts of love and most of all the strength and support to see this through! From my family to yours thank you!
