Micah Makilagi, is a Neuroblastoma patient. Funds raised will go toward helping with the expenses of a long battle to fight this horrible disease as well as needs he will have afterward from results of the aggressive treatment. (photo circa 9/2023)

Micah is the youngest son of my cousins, Wetare and Lori (Nance) Makilagi of Centerburg, OH and Grandson of the late Harold and Zelpha Nance of Sunbury, OH. He was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in January 2024 at age 2yrs. He is being treated for this form of childhood cancer at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. Micah has had multiple surgeries and other medical procedures. He has completed the chemotherapy in his protocol and had suffered some long-term damage to his organs, losing one of his kidneys. Recently he completed his first of 2 stem cell transplants and at the time of this post has been released to go home to finish his post-transplant quarantine period. Once recovered, he will face a second transplant expected as early as October this year. This treatment protocol, though very aggressive, is expected to give him the best chance of long-term survival.

In addition: * Micah’s older brother, Charlie, a Senior in high school, was discovered in March 2024 to have a much more treatable form of cancer. He has since completed his treatments, being in remission at the time of this post. Charlie will need routine re-checks for the next 18 months but is expected to make a full recovery and remain cancer-free.

Charlie, upon hearing his diagnosis, bravely said, “If a 2yr old can do this, I can do this!”

A prayer page has been active on FB for several months and we wish to thank all those who participate. We always end the prayer requests and updates with: #defeatneuroblastoma
