Help Micah Heal

Hello!

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Micah. I’m a 23-year-old, non-binary person living in the Bay Area. For a very long time I have struggled with my mental health and in 2020 I relapsed deeply into an old eating disorder. Anorexia and bulimia have wrecked havoc on my body causing electrolyte imbalances and more. In late 2021 it was decided by my doctors and treatment team that I needed to be partially hospitalized.

I am extremely privileged to have access to treatment right now that is partially covered by my insurance. In the last month I have learned so much about myself and I’ve grown so much. Unfortunately, I’m still only in the beginning phases of my recovery and there are several obstacles to me being able to flourish.

I had to take medical leave to seek treatment since I am in my treatment program 30 hours a week. For this reason I am deeply in need of funds. Not only because I need to move out but because my insurance only covers part of what is very expensive treatment. I already have a significant amount of built up medical debt due to chronic illness unrelated to my ED and it is only growing. There is a huge risk right now that my insurance will withdraw my coverage after a predetermined period of time regardless of my recovery status.

As much as it makes me uncomfortable to put myself out there I am sinking into a hole of medical debt.
