Help Micah Evolve: Leveling Up with Top Surgery!
Donation protected
TL;DR
Hey, I’m Micah! I’m working full-time while studying computer science, and I’m ready to evolve with top surgery. After an unexpected move wiped out my surgery savings, I’m reaching out for a little help to finally feel at home in my body. Whether you donate or share, you’re making a big difference in my journey. Let’s make this evolution happen—my ribs and I thank you deeply!
Thanks for stopping by!
You’re just in time to help me with an important step in my evolution (no rare candies needed).
When I’m not studying or working, I’m usually geeking out over anime, video games, or working on creative projects. Top surgery is something I’ve been striving for, and it’s going to be a huge milestone in my life. With your help, I’ll finally be free from these chest binders!
Why This Campaign?
So here’s where I’m at. My top surgery is officially scheduled for April 4th, 2024, a date I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I started saving for top surgery back in 2023, aiming to make it happen in 2024. But at the end of 2023, life threw a curveball (or maybe it was a Geodude?), and for my safety and sanity, I had to move apartments suddenly. The unexpected move threw off my timeline and completely wiped out my surgery savings, which was devastating for me.
It's hard for me to put into words just how much this setback affected me, but I’ve been living in a state of disconnect for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I rejected dresses and long hair. I didn’t understand why it was such a big deal if people “thought I was a boy.” Now as an adult, I still feel a disconnect with my body. Chest binding helps a little, but it’s not a true solution.
I can’t even walk onto my own patio to do laundry without putting a binder on, and sometimes it’s hard to just exist in my own home without binding. Chest pain, shortness of breath, and anxiety over outfits for fear of being “found out” are my reality. This surgery is more than a procedure—it’s a path to finally feeling at home in my body.
Where the Funds Will Go
Thankfully, my health insurance helps with the surgery cost, bringing it down to $5,000 out of pocket (which I'm in the process of saving up). But I’ll still need a few weeks off work to recover, and there are essential post-op supplies that insurance doesn’t cover. Here’s the breakdown:
• Surgery: $5,000
• Rent/Bills: $2,200 (while recovering)
• Supplies: $300
How You Can Help
If you can chip in, know that it makes a huge difference to me. And if donating isn’t possible right now, just sharing my campaign means a ton. Every bit of support, big or small, is a step closer to my goal, and I can’t thank you enough for being a part of it.
Thank you for reading and for being part of my journey!
