In the matter of a 2 day period my little sister went from having a healthy dog to having to say goodbye to her baby Aspen. Aspen was a 6 year old puppy and very healthy. 2 days ago Mia noticed that Aspen was not behaving normally and was having trouble walking and standing. Mia immediately took her to the emergency room where they couldn't figure out what was wrong, and referred her to a Neurologist. They took X-rays, did an MRI and a Spinal Tap. They sent Aspen home with her mom pending the results of all the tests and they had a rough night. The next day Mia noticed that Aspen was no longer breathing or moving. She again drove her to the emergency room in hopes that they could do something, however after unsuccessfully attempting to resuscitate her, they delivered the news that there was nothing they could do and Aspen was gone. She was told today by the Neurologist that they are certain it was Bacterial Meningitis which she contracted while in Vegas. They say it started out as Valley Fever and laid dormant.
Mia had to say goodbye to Aspen today, May 15th. If you knew Mia, you knew how close her and Aspen were. Aspen was her whole world and such a good girl. Mia has also been fighting Covid for the past 10 days. She's young and healthy, so she's been fighting a great fight. During her time off, Aspen was able to spend her last days with her mom. Mia had to spend the last few days in and out of the emergency room for Aspen, and she has accumulated a large vet bill. If you can find it in your heart to help us help her out, it would be very much appreciated. Mia is going through so much right now and we want to try and alleviate as much stress for her as we can. I have also included the breakdown of Aspen's Vet bill:
$180 - bloodwork
$203 - emergency clinic
$250 - neurologist visit
$280 - X-ray
$4100 - MRI & spinal tap
$120 - medicine
$600+ - resuscitation & cremation
