My name is Mia, and I’m a 19-year-old college sophomore from a low socioeconomic background. I’ve had to learn independence early, often being emotional and practical support for others, so asking for help is difficult for me, but I’ve reached a point where I truly need it.

On Monday, December 15th, 2025, my father unfortunately hit a tree which totaled my car. Thankfully, he walked away unharmed, but I was left completely without a vehicle. This has put me in a difficult position because I rely on my car for basic independence — running errands, attending appointments, helping my family, and pursuing work opportunities. I also could not afford insurance on my own, and my grandmother, who purchased the car, cannot assist financially again. Losing my car entirely made it clear that I needed immediate help to regain reliable transportation so I can continue living independently, meet my daily obligations, and avoid taking on long-term debt.

I plan to use the funds raised to purchase a reliable used car outright. I’m looking for a vehicle with reasonable mileage and a strong track record for reliability, so I can avoid long-term maintenance issues and additional debt. I will also use most of my school refund check toward the purchase. I am trying my best to be responsible in and with this process. Your support will help me regain reliable transportation, handle my daily responsibilities, pursue work opportunities, and continue living independently without placing extra strain on my family.
