My mom was assaulted and suffered a head injury, and after months of complications she was hospitalized in the ICU. She will likely not be out of the hospital until May.
She is finally stable, but now facing recovery without income, housing, or support — and I am her main support system.
I’ve used my savings trying to keep everything afloat, but we really need help right now.
If you can donate or even just share this, it would mean everything to us ❤️
more details are below
In late 2025, my mom was attacked while leaving a place she regularly visited by an irate woman. During the incident, she hit her head and sustained injuries. In the months that followed, her medical care focused primarily on her physical injuries, while some of the effects of the head injury and trauma post attack continued to develop. The doctors in the ICU suspected that her primary care doctor likely overlooked a brain injury and sleep deprivation from working too much and the trauma of processing the attack. While sleep deprived she got disoriented and hit her head again on March 7 which led to the hospitalization.
She had ongoing symptoms like disrupted sleep, concussion symptoms, nightmares, and increasing exhaustion from the attack and working more. At the same time, she was working as an overnight caregiver, a role where rest is possible but not always consistent. Over time, her workload nearly doubled—especially after a coworker's son passed away—leaving her extremely overworked and sleep-deprived.
She was admitted to the ICU and is now continuing her recovery out of intensive care. We are incredibly grateful she is safe and she will make a full recovery however it’s unknown how long that will take.
When she is discharged, I don’t know when she’ll be able to return to work and she will have to secure a job and a new place to live. She may need ongoing medical care, and physical therapy. On top of that, she is now facing the loss of income and housing instability during a critical recovery period. She was already in the process of moving at the time that she was hospitalized. She will not be able to return to her job, as they have hired someone to replace her during this time. I am in the process of trying to secure housing for her once she's out, however I have no clue when that will be.
I am her primary support system right now, and I’m doing everything I can to help her navigate this—but we need help. I had a savings set aside for a surgery I'm having in November 2026, however during this emergency I have nearly depleted those funds in order to make sure her monthly bills are paid (hoping to pause them) and the cost of moving her things, uhaul, and storage so that she doesn’t have to worry about that once she’s out.
We are raising funds to cover:
-Basic living expenses while she is in the hospital and recovering
-Application fees for looking for place to live post discharge
-Transportation and essential needs
-Basic living expenses to support her after discharge and while she is looking for work
-The storage in which her belongings are at
-Any monthly bills on autopay (I will be attempting to pause these)
-Car maintenance and monthly insurance
-Phone bill
My goal is to give her the time and stability she needs to heal without the overwhelming stress of immediate financial pressure. Doctors expect her to make a full recovery, however these things take time and there are many overlapping injuries affecting her.
If you’re able to donate or share, it would mean more than I can express. Thank you for supporting my mom during this incredibly difficult time.
