Hi, my name is Mia, and I’m asking for a bit of kindness to help me get back on my feet.

This year has been one of the hardest of my life. I was diagnosed with Mild Autism and ADHD in my late 20s — finally understanding why I’ve always struggled to keep up, but also facing new challenges I didn’t know how to handle. Soon after my diagnosis, I lost my job, and my long-term partner of 8 years, now ex-fiance — who had been emotionally and financially abusive — left without warning. Overnight, I found myself alone, paying rent, bills, and caring for my cats with almost nothing left.

I’ve worked hard to rebuild. I found a new job in July and have been doing everything I can to stay afloat, but I’m still living paycheck to paycheck and trying to recover from months of setbacks, putting hundreds of dollars onto my credit card .

Now, my apartment complex is forcing me out early for not giving enough notice — something I simply overlooked while overwhelmed with survival and transition. They’re also demanding I pay for extra rent after I leave. Between this, an unpaid doctor’s bill from my diagnosis, and a car repair I can’t afford, I’m reaching a breaking point. I'm trying to move elsewhere and they also need about $1300 in first months rent, which I will have to put on credit while I have to pay for these extra two months at this apartment I'm meant to be leaving.

I don’t have family who can help financially, and asking publicly like this is incredibly uncomfortable for me. But I believe in the goodness of people — in the idea that compassion still exists for those doing their best to get through hard times.
