Today, Mia and her family experienced a devastating apartment fire that changed everything in an instant. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, though they are still searching for one of their beloved cats. The fire destroyed about 73% of their belongings, leaving them with almost nothing and forcing them to completely start over. Mia is one of the kindest, strongest, and most selfless people you could ever meet. She is an incredible mother and caretaker to her sweet 10-year-old son, Josh, who has Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD) a disease that leaves him completely disabled; unable to eat, walk, or verbally communicate. Josh requires special loose-fitting clothing and medical accommodations for his daily care, and Mia has always put his needs above everything else. Josh is truly the sweetest kid in the world, and his humor and personality bring so much joy to everyone around him. Right now, the family has lost nearly all of their clothing, Josh’s toys, and many of the comforts that made their apartment feel like home — including Mia’s beloved books and favorite reading corner. They are urgently trying to replace essentials, secure a safe place to stay, and begin rebuilding their lives after this traumatic loss. One of the most beautiful things about community is how people come together in life’s hardest moments. Right now, Mia and Josh need that community more than ever. If you are able to donate, every contribution will go directly to Mia and her family as they begin to rebuild. And if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help us reach as many people as possible. Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
