Help Mia Heal: Medical Expenses from YNOT Chatham tragedy
Donation protected
This is Mia. On April 28th, she was involved in the YNOT after-school tragedy in Chatham, IL. Mia is in the hospital. She has 2 fractures in her pelvis, a fracture in her skull, and a laceration in her forehead that required plastic surgery to get it closed up.
Please help Mia and her family with medical expenses, missed time from work, and upcoming therapy appointments.
I have been best friends with Mia’s mom since middle school. The Miller family has given me permission to start this GoFundMe for them.
Please pray for Mia and her family’s healing, donate if you can, and share! ❤️
An update from her parents:
It's still hard to find the correct words for what the past 52 hours have been like. To put it simply, it's been a blur with so many emotions, with ups and downs. Receiving a phone call that no parent should ever get and hearing that there has been an incident and my oldest was involved. Rushing there, hoping and praying for the best. It felt like the longest drive of my life. Arriving, seeing the unimaginable, and thinking, "This can't be real." That was until I saw Mia, getting worked on by the first responders. Getting told to "talk to her, keep her awake." I promised her I wouldn't leave her side while she was rushed to an ambulance with another very brave little girl. In the ambulance, these girls kept each other going and alert, reassuring that everything would be alright and talking to each other back and forth the entire way. The nurses and doctors were ready and quick to act when we arrived and rushed Mia right away to get an MRI and X-rays. Mia has 2 fractures in her pelvis, a fracture in her skull, and a laceration in her forehead that required plastic surgery to get it closed up.
She is in good spirits now and is focusing on her journey through physical therapy to get walking again and hoping to get out of the hospital by this weekend. To the families that lost a loved one or suffered an injury, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Our hearts are with you during this difficult time, and we are thinking about you. To all the first responders, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. To the entire community of Chatham and surrounding areas, THANK YOU. Seeing this town come together has brought so many happy tears to our family's faces. Knowing we have so many people out there supporting not only us but everybody this tragic event has touched is truly amazing.
Kayla and I have tried to text and/or call back everybody that has reached out to us. We want you all to know that we appreciate the kind words and taking the time out of your lives to check on Mia and Maci. Mia wanted to tell everybody, "Thank you for thinking about me."
