Mia is our pet cat, the baby of the family, and we all love and adore her. She’s been through so much in the past few weeks. On April 17th, someone accidentally closed the door on her tail. Mia got scared and ran, which led to the skin being completely removed from her tail. Just three days later, my husband left for the army, and me and his family have been doing our best to care for Mia while balancing semester finals, work, and family responsibilities while all adjusting to my husband being away.
We took Mia to the hospital twice and to the vet multiple times. Her injury got infected, and she needed a partial amputation surgery. After scratching the wound, we had to take her back to get it re-stitched. Now, Mia ripped off the bandage covering her injury and started self-mutilating the tip of her tail again, and it’s raw flesh at the tip. She’s scheduled for another surgery tomorrow morning to remove more of her tail and help her heal.
We don’t have veterinary insurance and we’re all working together to try and pay off the previous debts accumulated since her injury in addition to the surgery she has tomorrow. Mia needs this surgery desperately, the skin can’t grow back on its own and leaving it can quickly lead to infection again. Any support would mean the world to us and help Mia get the care she needs. We’re so grateful for any help during this difficult time.
