Help Mhai Fight Colon Cancer

Donation protected
Greetings friends, I’m Eric Bikales along with my beautiful wife Khai. We’re about to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. Khai’s family all live in the Philippines, including her twin sister Mhai Glodove. Khai and Mhai have always been inseparable. Their father died in an unfortunate accident just before they were born, so the twins only knew a life without enough food—and certainly no money for anything else.

Before they were even ten years old, the twins were creating small jobs to pay for the pencils and paper that grade school required. When their class got to do something fun, like take a field trip, they usually couldn’t afford to go. After high school they both started to work full-time. The factory where they each worked paid them less than $3. a day, most of which went to support their family.

Even after Khai and I got married, Khai and her twin sister remain extremely close. They text and video call at least several times a week. But in April of this year, a bump on the back of Mhai’s head was determined to be malignant. Further tests showed that it started in her colon and then spread. The CT scan, ultrasound and colonoscopy revealed it to be stage 4 colon cancer.

Though emotionally devastated, Mhai and the family found a group of doctors who practice holistic remedies, and treatment started immediately. Health insurance is non-existent for most families in the Philippines yet these treatments are quite expensive. We still have to pay for the next 2 rounds of treatments plus more testing. The treatments appear to be helping Mhai. She maintains a very positive attitude and her weight is almost up to 70 lbs now. (She is only 4’9” and weight was just under 100 lbs) Family and friends are looking after her 2 kids. Khai and I are committed to helping Mhai in any way that we can, so we started this Go Fund Me to help with all her expenses.

We would like to ask you to please open your hearts and donate any amount you can to help Mhai in her fight. We would also like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for your generosity.

Dear friends and family,
As you know, Khai’s twin sister, Mhai, was diagnosed with colon cancer in late May of this year. By early June, we ordered diagnostic tests that showed her condition to be stage 4 colon cancer. By early July we started a GoFundMe to help pay for additional tests, treatments and expenses. Because of our friends and family’s generosity and kindness we were able to raise several thousand dollars. This has been a huge help in giving Mhai the care she so desperately needs. After her second round of tests, her doctor felt chemo and radiation treatments were not advisable. At this point we are continuing with palliative care. We are doing everything we can to help Mhai through this difficult transition and we continue to pray for a miracle. Khai and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our friends and family for the outpouring of love and concern everyone has shown. Although we will formally end our fund raising efforts, we remain in close touch with Mhai and family every day. We can’t thank you all enough for helping us when we needed it. We hope your days are filled with good health and happiness. We love and appreciate all of you. Thank you!
Love to all,
Eric and Khai
