Hi, my name is Morgan Yvonne Rosati and I am thrilled to have been accepted into the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) for the Postgraduate Diploma Advanced Studies programme in which I will start in September for the academic year 2025/2026. This prestigious institution, known for its world-leading experts and like-minded peers, presents an ideal environment to refine my expressive and professional capabilities. The entrance scholarship of £15,000 (around AUD$30,000) I have been awarded by RNCM is a significant contribution, yet I still need to cover the remaining costs which are significant.
My journey as a soloist singer began at middle school when a special segment was added to the instrumental class concert for another student and myself. It was my high school choir teacher who encouraged me to pursue my love of singing and to cultivate my natural talents at a tertiary level.
Tertiary studies have broadened my understanding of classical voice and increased my enchantment with opera.
I’ve just completed a Master of Music Studies at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, where I was fortunate to study under Associate Professor Dr Margaret Schindler. During my time at the Conservatorium, I had the opportunity to perform partial roles including Rosina, Isabella, and Public Opinion. Some of my leading roles have included Zita in Gianni Schicchi, Orpheus in QCGU’s opera Underworld, and most recently, Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica.
As a concert alto soloist, I’ve enjoyed working with various orchestras and ensembles, performing works such as Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Vivaldi’s Gloria, RV 589. In 2024, I was honoured to sing Cocooned in Breath, a contemporary classical work by composer Sally Greenaway.
Throughout my studies, I’ve been recognised with several awards, including the 2023 Linda Edith Allen Award and Elizabeth Muir Postgraduate Awards, the 2024 QCGU Postgraduate Award, and the 2024 Doreen Ord and Lyceum Club Award.
My goal is to have a career as a professional singer. To this end, I participate in competitions, and I have won three university prizes. Moving forward, the plan is to initially seek contracts in the U.K. and Europe where there are many opportunities for young artists to perform. I'd love to become a Rossiniana and perform the spirited roles Rossini wrote for mezzo sopranos. In the long term, I hope to be able to contribute to the vocal performance arts environment in Australia, and I hope to include the Royal Northern College of Music in the journey to fulfill this ambition.
With the support of this, I can fully immerse myself in the transformative opportunities at RNCM, including performing in operatic roles and pursuing specialized courses like “Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Dynamic Rehearsal.” This assistance will enable me to advance my career goals, initially by seeking contracts in the UK and Europe, and ultimately by contributing to the vocal performance arts environment in Australia. Your support would not only help me achieve my immediate educational goals but also empower me to bring the wonderful world of opera to audiences around the world.
