Help Metro Cat Rescue Save Sick Cats

Donation protected
Metro Cat Rescue needs a dedicated fund for emergency care. Animal hospitals insist on immediate payment. As it stands now, each and every vet visit has to be paid for by pleading for help from donors. This means that a sick cat suffers for days waiting for medical attention.

We all too often are forced to decline essential tests, because there's only enough money for the office visit charge and a general medication.

Over the years, many of the cats rescued had behavioral problems that made them poor prospects for adoption. Metro Cat Rescue continued to care for them. As these cats grow older, it's more likely that they will develop health issues -- cancer, kidney illness or heart problems, for example -- that are expensive to treat.

I've paid most of the vet bills with my own money. I've sold things I've owned for years. At this point, I am worried about paying the utility bills. Metro Cat Rescue now needs your help so that we can help kittens and cats.

Metro Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3). Donations, gifts, and bequests are US tax deductible. EIN Assigned: 82-0701118. You can also check if your employer has a corporate matching gift program.

Donating any car, SUV, truck, motorcycle, or boat to Metro Cat Rescue helps us help kittens and cats in need -- AND can mean a BIG TAX DEDUCTION for you! Metro Cat Rescue still needs a van or large SUV for our own use.

Donations of tools, game consoles, action figures, silver coins, chess sets, musical instruments, cameras and other nice things that we can sell on eBay are great, too.

Old photos -- particularly black and white -- are fine.

Metro Cat Rescue receives no grants or taxpayer dollars. To help kittens and cats in need, we rely on community support. So that Metro Cat Rescue can continue this mission and do more, we need your help. It's quick and convenient and safe to donate at the Metro Cat Rescue GoFundMe Page.

Giving any amount will be a huge help. Unfortunately, right now we have no idea what our funding will be next month — or even next week. Helping to make it possible for Metro Cat Rescue to plan for the future will mean so many more kittens and cats will be saved.

The dream of Metro Cat Rescue is to establish a facility to provide care for homeless kittens and cats with easily treated but contagious conditions -- those innocents that now elsewhere regularly are made to die. Sadly, a lack of funds has kept Metro Cat Rescue's goal on a distant horizon.

Anthony Olszewski and friends have been helping cats in need for many years. We've intervened where a cat is about to die -- like those abandoned to the cruel horrors of the street by heartless owners. We've also cared for kittens that shelters routinely kill for being "too much trouble".

The lack of money is a big problem. Sadly, I often have to use my own grocery money to buy cat food.

Osage is FIV+. He had two vet visits and hospitalization for a urinary infection and blockage. The total bill was over $5,000.

Briskie had a urinary blockage. He needed two hospitalizations. Briskie did well after a long recovery.

Storm Baby was rushed to an emergency vet on a Saturday night. They helped us by caring for her immediately but not checking her in until midnight on Sunday. This saved us from a charge for one day's hospitalization. The bill still was in the thousands of dollars.

Rosebud needed emergency surgery.

Griselda had to be rushed to the vet during tropical storm Ida. The surgery was a success. With the highway flooding, the trip home was dangerous.

TipTop went to the vet for a dental. At home a few days later, an abscess developed in his cheek. This meant another trip to the vet.

There were many other cats whose illnesses needed expensive vet care. There certainly will be many more!
