Hello, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Meshia & I am looking to help fundraise money for a Life-Saving Procedure called Bronchial Thermoplasty. Bronchial Thermoplasty is a new innovative 3 part procedure/treatment for those with Severe Persistent Asthma(Me). Thermal energy is used to reduce the muscle associated with persistent airway constriction despite medications in severe asthma patients. Not only does it improve severe asthma patients quality of life, it improves the outcome of a longer life expectancy. Bronchial Thermoplasty is a life-saving procedure that has saved thousands and thousands of people. However since this procedure is fairly new, it’s deemed “experimental” in many insurance companies such as mine, therefore my insurance will not cover it. I am asking for any amount of help that is possible.

 

A little background story: I’ve had asthma since I was 1 years old . Throughout life it was easily manageable with the right medications. However, Back in 2019, my asthma turned very severe and I was diagnosed with a rare form of asthma called eosinophilic asthma. Only about 5% of the population of asthmatics in the WORLD has this form of asthma. This asthma does not respond well to traditional forms of asthma medications or high dose steroids. I am currently on 9 medications a day & 2 monthly biologic injections Nucala & Xolair with no luck as well as failed 2 other biologic injections for my asthma. I am also of high doses of long term daily steroids that poses the risk of of me developing steroid induced diabetes, osteoporosis, Cushings, and other illnesses related to prolonged steroid use. I range anywhere from 5-8 ER visits a month but there’s only so much they can continue doing. My quality of life is very low, dangerous & I miss many days of work due to my illness. I am on round the clock treatments & rarely have time for myself because I am fighting another day to keep breathing. This procedure will not only improve my quality of life but it will also SAVE my life.
