Help Merlin Beat Thrombocytopenia

Hello all,
Our sweet Merlin needs your help! The other day our gentle giant’s usual happy and playful demeanor was replaced with lethargy. Initially we chalked this up to the intense heat that San Diego has been experiencing, but quickly realized it was more serious than that when Merlin’s eyes and mouth began filling with blood.
After multiple days at the emergency vet, the vet concluded that Merlin is suffering from thrombocytopenia, a blood disease where there is an alarmingly low amount to no platelets in the blood which control clotting, internal bleeding, and hemorrhaging.
The vet assured us that Merlin does not have a presence of cancerous cells and with proper care and treatment, the disease is manageable and Merlin can lead a healthy and happy life for years to come if he overcomes this battle.
Merlin is only half way through his expected life span and has so much more love to give, waves to jump in, and balls to chase. Merlin is a great dane, which for those of you who are not well versed in dog breeds, is a massive breed (hence the gentle giant nickname). Due to this, his medical bills are astronomically high and due to coronavirus his owner, Chris, was laid off and does not have the income to cover this on his own and also does not have pet insurance to help alleviate some of the cost.
Our Merlin is still at the vet who is working tirelessly and taking all measures to ensure Merlin stays stable. With that being said, the already high vet bills are still building up with no end in sight yet.
Please find it in your heart to donate and help bring our sweet Merlin home. He exudes nothing but love to everyone he meets and he needs our help!
