Hi, my name is Heidi and I am fund-raising for my fur boy Merlii.

Merlii joined our family 14 years ago as a 5 week old kitten. He is such a character, so lively, loving, caring and knows when someone needs that extra love. He will sit there and tap his paw on the arm or shoulder.

Unfortunately since March I have taken him to the vet 4 times due to a hard, harsh purr.

The 1st vet said it was because he had a sore back and it could affect his voice box.

The 2nd vet treated him for bronchitis then follow up visit tried treatment for asthma.

On the 4th visit (2nd) vet we made appointment with a specialist, which was Thursday 24th July.

The specialist sedated Merlii and performed tests.. the result Merlii has been diagnosed with Laryngeal Paralysis.. which it rare in cats.

It means one side of his larynx is paralysed and the other side a mild reduction.. making it difficult for Merlii to breath properly when purring, stressed or hot.

The procedure is called a Laryngeal Tieback and the cost is estimated to cost $5600 - $6700. (see discharge letter)

Unfortunately we recently had to move which took most of my savings. I have $2500 to put towards helping Merlii but am asking for help for the rest.

Merlii deserves this. He has helped me through difficult times and depression. The specialist has said he is strong, no other real issues and a beautiful coat.

If it becomes worse his airway could become blocked.
