Hello, my name is Merissa. I am a 34-year-old single mom of two beautiful daughters. I work full-time providing therapy for children with autism, and I am the sole provider for my family.
At just 14 years old, I was diagnosed with Lupus, Sjögren’s Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia. Over time, I’ve also been diagnosed with Pernicious anemia, Interstitial cystitis, chronic bilateral sciatica, iron deficiency anemia, acid reflux, and a B12 deficiency. I have had multiple surgeries and procedures, and I currently require weekly outpatient treatments and monthly spinal infusions. Even with health insurance, I must pay $300 per week in ambulatory fees, plus the cost of my medications and insurance for myself and my two daughters.
Two months ago, right as I began treatments, my car broke down. Because I am the only means of transportation for my children and myself, I had to rent a car at my own expense to get them to school and work, and to make it to my medical appointments. On top of that, I had to defer my car payments to keep up with treatment costs.
While I was in the hospital, after making the arranged payment, my car was repossessed because I didn’t call in to give them a confirmation number. Even though I explained and pleaded with them, they told me the repossession would not be reversed. Now I’ve been told I have only 10 days to pay $4,000 in missed payments and fees to get my car back. Without it, I cannot work, continue my treatments, or care for my daughters.
As of right now, I have no transportation, no family nearby in Georgia, and I’ve had to put my treatments on hold. I have always been active in my community and love supporting others, but now I find myself in the difficult position of asking for help.
I am raising funds to cover:
• $4,000 to get my car back
• Treatment and medication costs so I can continue weekly infusions
• Transportation expenses until I am back on my feet
Any support, no matter the size, will make an incredible difference for me and my girls. If you are unable to donate, I would be so grateful if you could share my story.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity, kindness, and prayers.
With love and gratitude,
Merissa
