Help Merica House Remodel for Independence

Please help! After nearly 30 years of daily use our kitchens are in dire need of repair and remodeling. Cabinets, countertops and appliances all need to be replaced.
Merica House is a non-profit group home which accommodates young adults with severe physical disabilities that require twenty-four hour attendant care services to support their daily living needs. Without this program, these adults would otherwise be in nursing homes, or live isolated lives, totally dependent on relatives for their care. In a place like Merica House, however, residents are encouraged to pursue individual interests, develop skills, participate in community programs, attend social events, and much more.
In spite of their disabilities, our residents access the community by attending a local church, sightseeing historical locations and shopping in the local Target and Walmart. One was a contestant in the Miss Wheelchair Virginia pageant & WON! One regularly seeks assistance and writes articles for our newsletter and one resident works at Home Depot.
In addition, residents are involved in the operations of the home, and are largely responsible for directing their own care. Therefore, the model allows for a lot of independence that these individuals might not otherwise be afforded.
The house operates via the combined support of state & local government programs, community organizations, and charitable contributions. That means that Merica House needs YOUR help.
Any donation, no matter the size, would be extremely helpful to the House and the residents. Please consider helping out some very good people with some very big hearts.
