Help Mental Health Nurse Dan Get Life Saving Heart Surgery

Donation protected
My friend Daniel, a compassionate Mental Health nurse, has spent his life caring for others. At 40 years old, he now faces a devastating health crisis of his own. Daniel has recently been diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), which means there are two holes in the wall between the upper chambers of his heart. To make matters worse, he also has an enlarged heart, adding to the severity of his condition.

For years, Daniel has battled relentless pain, exhaustion, and the emotional toll of his condition. In 2020, the agony became unbearable, forcing him to leave the job he loved—a job where he made a real difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues. His selfless dedication to others is now overshadowed by his own desperate need for help.

Daniel has always been active and full of life. He has a deep passion for sports and has spent years pursuing his love for physical challenges. As an ex-mixed martial arts fighter, he has demonstrated incredible discipline and strength. He has also competed in triathlons and taken on the thrill of mountain climbing as hobbies. The prospect of losing his physical vitality is devastating for someone who has always lived life to the fullest. This surgery is not just about survival—it's about restoring the life he loves and the activities that define him.

In April of this year, after enduring years of suffering and unanswered questions, Daniel sought answers privately. The echocardiogram revealed the heartbreaking truth: two holes in his heart that urgently need to be closed through surgery. Without this operation, Daniel's life expectancy could be cut tragically short, with the constant threat of a stroke, heart attack, and an ever-growing list of debilitating symptoms.
Despite the severity of his condition—shortness of breath, chest pain, heart palpitations, and overwhelming fatigue—the NHS does not consider the holes in Daniel’s heart large enough to warrant immediate surgery. The 11-month waiting list just for an initial assessment is a timeframe Daniel simply doesn’t have. Each day is a struggle, with Daniel confined to bed more often than not, unable to perform even the simplest daily tasks.
Daniel’s only hope now lies in seeking emergency surgery abroad. After extensive research and consultations, we have found a reputable hospital in Turkey that can perform the life-saving surgery he so desperately needs. The surgery itself is estimated to cost between £10,000-£12,000, not including the essential aftercare and the day-to-day adjustments Daniel will need to make during his recovery.

This is where we urgently need your help. Time is not on Daniel’s side, and the cost of this surgery is far beyond what he or his loved ones can manage alone. Your support could give Daniel the chance to regain his health, his life, and his ability to continue helping others as he always has.

Please consider donating whatever you can to help Daniel get the life-saving surgery he needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to securing his future. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and network can make a world of difference.
Let’s come together to give Daniel the chance to live a full and healthy life. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support in this critical time.

The Hospital: Medipol University Hospital, Istanbul.
