Help Menke's with medical bills
Donation protected
This is a picture of Ron and I was a selfie taken in the summer of 2021. Before his diagnosis and before the cancer metastasized.
Our family is in need of donations to pay medical bills and other medical expenses. We do have insurance but it does not cover a lot of it. This is very hard for me to ask for this but swallowed my pride. Ron was a fantastic father, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle and huband until the end. He loved his family dearly. We took care of Ron at home where he wanted to be with help from Health Flex Hospice.
Ron could not walk or use his arms due to severe weakness. He was housebound and bedridden.
Ron joined the Concord Blue Devil’s Drum & Bugle Corps drum staff in 1972 and would stay on thru the 1979 season. A charter member of the Santa Clara Vanguard in 1967, Ron marched in SCV through the summer of 1972, helping the corps earn VFW and American Legion national championships during that time.
Ron had a large impact on the corps. Known as a “tenor drum guru”, he championed the transition from single tenors to the multi-tom set ups used to this day, was instrumental in bringing the iconic North tenors to the legendary 1976 Blue Devils, pioneered the use of sound scoops and worked tirelessly to develop carriers and harnesses. He worked very hard and it is so hard to say goodbye.
