Help mend Garik Gregston’s broken back

My dear friend, Jenn Gregston, and her family needs our help!  Jenn’s 16-year-old son, Garik Gregston, went to Phoenix to work with his grandfather Gregston and uncle for a month to earn some extra money.  Less than a week after arriving, Garik fell through an attic floor landing on a tile floor about 10’ below. 

Garik landed on his back and sustained serious injuries requiring an emergency 10-hour spinal surgery (this happened on Friday, 6/14/19).   The neurosurgeon said that he fractured or shattered every bone in his back; he now has titanium screws and rods permanently in his back.

Jenn and her sister, Wendy, immediately flew to Phoenix to be with Garik arriving while he was still in surgery.  Jenn has stayed in Phoenix to be with Garik while Wendy returned to Edmond, Oklahoma to care for Jenn’s other three children.

  Garik spent five days in Trauma ICU and has now been transferred to a medical surgical neuro room. (Jenn is able to stay there with him).  He has a full upper-torso body brace and is using a walker for limited mobility.  Garik needs to transfer to an Acute Rehab facility, but they require funds in advance and these funds have yet to become available.

Jenn is a single mom with four kids (Garik is the second oldest) that supports her family by providing housekeeping services to a loyal clientele.  The necessity of her staying with Garik in Phoenix has eliminated Jenn’s income stream. 

Despite the tragedy in all of this, we are all thankful for God’s mercy that Garik didn’t suffer any paralysis, neurological damage or nerve damage.  We’re also very thankful that he is receiving excellent medical care in Phoenix.  He does, however, face a long road of recovery ahead that will entail significant and uncomfortable physical therapy.

At this juncture, the focus has been solely on Garik’s medical care.  However, enormous financial realities lie ahead in the form of medical bills, Acute Rehab facility, transportation expense to get Garik home to Edmond, plus personal expenses such as rent and feeding the children. 

First and foremost, we would ask that you all be fervently praying for Garik’s recovery, healing, mental outlook, strength and endurance.  Garik has been in nearly continual excruciating pain.  Also, please pray for Jenn and the other kids as they navigate this incredible tribulation.  Please pray that insurance monies become available to offset these expenses.
 
We also humbly make appeal for your financial generosity to help with this unexpected tragedy.  We currently have no real idea of what the total costs will be of all of this, but it clearly exceeds anything that Jenn could ever bear herself financially.  Please share this page with others and thank you for your prayers and your support!
