Hi! I’m Grace, and I am a student at Emerson College currently creating my senior thesis documentary! For my documentary, I am determined to memorialize a piece of history for my family and the community on the South Shore.

This documentary is about the infamous Rexicana Ballroom that showcased many popular bands and performers from the '60s and '70s. People from all over traveled and attended concerts, events, proms, graduations, and clam bakes there. However, in 1978, the Rexicana was engulfed in flames, completely burned to the ground.

The memories of the Rexicana live on in the minds of the ones who experienced it, but there is no physical memorial for it… until now.

My inspiration:

My grandfather, John Clancy, was the owner of the Rexicana. I have grown up hearing the stories surrounding this magical place.

There is little to no information about the Rexicana and its fire online, so I would love to create something that sets the record straight and memorializes it.
