My best friend Melvin McCowan AKA Shag, started having trouble in July 2024 after getting really sick. From that point, he went from test to test, specialty to specialty. He has totally lost his voice. Now he has been diagnosed with stage 3 Lung Cancer. Treatments start this week. Shag has touched so many lives. He took so much joy in being a KJ and DJ. He loved making people laugh and be happy, if only for a moment. He now has no voice and can’t DJ anymore. As a result, he is struggling without his supplemental income. He needs a new well dug for his home that he can’t afford at the moment. He needs an oven. And with rent, utilities, and medical expenses rising, I would like to do a GoFundMe to give him a reason to smile again and take some of the stress of the season off of him. He goes soon for cancer testing and probable chemo.
