Please help my brother MELVIN fight cancer.
Life of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) is not easy, being away from their families for many years and rarely go home just so they can financially provide for their families.
My brother, MELVIN S. DAGDAG, an OFW for over 23 years, was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma – a Grade IV brain tumor (the most aggressive and fastest-growing type), while vacationing in the Philippines. He had undergone brain surgery (on the right side of his brain). Just few weeks after the surgery, now he is gradually losing his vision, weight and energy. He is currently undergoing therapy sessions (6 cycles chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and 6 cycles immunotherapy). Each cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy cost Php195,000 (approx USD4,000) and Php177,000 (approx USD3,700), respectively. He already completed the first cycle, but can no longer sustain the succeeding cycles due to financial hardship.
He has two sons – the youngest just completed high school, while the eldest is employed but his income is not even enough to cover the costly medical expenses. His family had exhausted all their savings, had asked for financial assistance from other people and government agencies, and still not enough to cover all of these exorbitant medical procedures.
I am knocking at your generous hearts to help my brother in this difficult time. Any amount is greatly appreciated to complete the therapy needed to help extend his life. Melvin is an epitome of a good father of a family- responsible, loving, kind and generous. He was about to retire from working abroad when this unexpected turn of event struck him.
