Over the last 2 and a half years I have lost over 180 lbs. on WW (Weight Watchers). While I feel healthier than I think I have ever felt in my life, I have encountered different issues. With great weight loss comes a large amount of extra skin. I remember as a child my pediatrician telling my mom that no one would know how much I weigh because I was built like a tree trunk and carry my weight everywhere. While at the time, I thought that was great, as people realizing how much I weighed wasn't something I was thrilled about. Now, having lost the weight, I have excess loose skin all over my body. The final step in my weight loss journey is to get rid of the excess skin. Even though the skin causes numerous issues, it is considered cosmetic and not medically necessary. Because of this, insurance will not cover the cost and it is up to me to pay for all of it. I have worked hard to take the weight off and to help me keep it off, I feel the skin needs to be removed.

Because of the large amount of skin, I will need 3 surgeries to complete the process. It will take me a minimum of 18 months to complete all 3 as l need to wait a minimum of 6 months between surgeries to heal completely. My first surgery is scheduled for January 15th, 2022.

I have had so many supportive people in my life who have followed and encouraged me on my journey and who want to help me complete it. Just as I have shared my weight loss journey, I will also share the skin removal journey. I am excited to start the process and share it with all of you.
