Melody has already beaten the odds once. Now she needs our help to beat them again.

More than a year ago, Melody was found abandoned at a truck stop in South San Diego with her three tiny kittens. The environment around them was harsh, dirty, and filled with contaminants, but despite everything she endured, Melody never stopped being a devoted mom. She protected her babies, nursed them, and somehow kept them alive until they were rescued.

Today, all three of her kittens have found loving forever homes.

But Melody's journey isn't over.

Shortly after her rescue, she began showing signs of serious lung disease. Thanks to the dedication of her foster family and the generosity of our supporters, she has received ongoing veterinary care and medication. If you met her today, you might never guess how sick she is. She greets people with affection, happily curls up in laps, loves catnip and ribbon toys, and kneads little "biscuits" while she snuggles. She seems so thankful to be safe and loved after life on the streets.

Unfortunately, appearances can be deceiving.

Although Melody looks healthy on the outside, her lungs are still not functioning properly. To give her the best chance at a full recovery, she urgently needs additional diagnostics and treatment, including surgery to remove and test the particles in her lungs, specialized laboratory testing, additional X-rays, and costly medications needed to continue fighting the infection.

These lifesaving procedures are beyond what our rescue can cover alone.

Melody has been with our rescue for over a year, and throughout it all she has never stopped showing us love. She has overcome abandonment, raised her kittens against incredible odds, and continues to greet every day with trust, affection, and hope.

Now it's our turn to fight for her.
