On the morning of December 4th, 2025, Melody Layfield was taking her two beloved small dogs, Ava (a Cairn Terrier) and Prince (a Yorkie), for their usual walk when tragedy struck. Without warning, a neighbor's pit bull attacked them. Melody, who has dedicated her life to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming countless pups, didn't hesitate for a moment—she threw herself over Ava and Prince, doing everything she could to shield them from harm. Despite her bravery and selflessness, the pit bull's strength was too much, and both Ava and Prince suffered serious injuries.

Melody's love for animals is well known in her community. She has always been the first to step up for animals in need, offering her home and her heart to those who have nowhere else to go. Now, Melody, Ava, and Prince are facing a long and difficult road to recovery. The emergency vet bills for surgery, at-home care, and ongoing treatment are mounting quickly, and the financial burden is overwhelming.

We are reaching out to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Your donation will go directly toward the medical care that Ava and Prince need to heal and return to the loving home Melody has always provided. Your support and help supports the love of rescuing and loving animals selflessly. It also means a lot to those who give their heart to our furry four-legged friends. Please share this story and hold your pet tight knowing they are safe.
