Help Mellissa rebuild her home and life.

So many Australians are going through this catastrophic flood, and right now one of them is our friend Mellissa Duff in Lismore NSW.

Originally from North Ryde (nee Richardson) Mellissa made a life in Lismore NSW, where Mellissa’s house has never flooded before as it was above the historical flood levels. But not this time, with the area flooding 2 metres higher. Her house went under, as did all her belongings and memories.

Sadly, Mellissa lost her husband 3 years ago in an horrific car accident. Whilst her brother was also injured in the accident, his deteriorating health left Mellissa as his primary carer. The inevitable stress led to Mellissa losing her job, and the compounding financial hardships led to the inability to upkeep payments like home insurance.

There is extensive damage to the house, and a total loss of household belongings and appliances. We can get furniture, food, clothing. We can supply our skills, tools, and time to clean up and rebuild. But Mellissa needs the funds to buy kitchen cupboards, new wall sheeting, flooring, doors, bathroom tiles and fit outs. Mellissa needs the funds to rebuild a house before we can fill it with donated goods.

We know there are so many people in the same position, and we all wish we could help them all.
