My name is Melissa Tran, and I am fundraising to help my family prepare for the medical and end-of-life expenses for my mom. She is currently hospitalized at UCI Health in Fountain Valley, where she is intubated and battling severe lung and kidney failure. Her doctors have explained to us that her condition is critical. Despite treatment, including antifungal medications and antibiotics, her lungs have not improved and she is unfortunately getting worse.

In the next 5–10 days, we may have to make a difficult decision between continuing life support through a tracheostomy or allowing her to pass peacefully. As a dialysis patient with two failing organs, we know that the quality of life she would have after a tracheostomy is not something she would want. We are doing our best to prepare ourselves emotionally and practically for what may come.

Although my mom has state and federally funded medical insurance, there are still expenses that fall outside of what is covered, both current medical costs and the funeral arrangements we may soon have to make. While I will be helping my dad with his regular monthly expenses, these additional costs are more than we can manage on our own. This fund will help ease the financial burden on him and allow us to focus on taking care of my mom with as much peace and dignity as possible.
