Melissa’s dad has always been a resilient and independent person, but this past year has brought unimaginable challenges. After suffering a stroke, he underwent cranial surgery to remove a tumor on the right side of his head. As if that wasn’t enough, he broke his wrist after the stroke and will need another surgery once he recovers from the tumor removal.

Right now, he’s living in a 10x20 tent on his homestead because his trailer’s roof caved in and the trailer itself sank into the mud, making it unlivable. He has no running water or electricity, and is borrowing power from a kind neighbor just to charge his phone. For water, he relies on the generosity of neighbors to help care for himself and his five senior dogs.

The funds raised will go directly toward home repairs, restoring basic utilities, caring for his beloved dogs, trash removal, and securing safe housing. They’ll also help cover gas for trips to the doctor, since hitchhiking is no longer possible after his recent surgeries. Every donation and prayer means the world as he approaches his 73rd birthday.
