My name is Nick Taylor, and I am fundraising for a friend, Melissa, from Cape Breton, NS, so she make her home accessible to her needs, and to help her pay for her prescriptions and travel, Worker Compensation Board of NS is responsible for renovating her house, but they are no longer helping. WCB is telling Melissa that she is to leave the Airbnb on May 5, 2025 as they will not lay for it after that, forcing her to live in an inaccessible home that was meant to made accessible by WBC. She is having a hard time being able to afford her much needed meds. She has to travel around 400km just to see her GP, as there are not doctors near her. Melissa has applied for MAID, and we don't want her to go.

Melissa is a former nurse, and was injured on the job in 2006. It left her with chronic pain, in addition to a condition that makes her immunocompromised. There are days that her pain levels are so high, she can barely think.

WCB has been responsible for renovations to be made to her home to more accessible for her. They are NOT fulfilling their duty, leaving Melissa to fight for years. They have been taking too long and getting nowhere. They are more considered about the cosmetic look than the accessibility. Forcing Melissa to live that way is inhumane.

Politicians are not helping her nor fighting for her.

Please, help Melissa with her renovations so she can live happily, and safely at home. Let's help this amazing advocate continue to fight for first responders and their rights.
