As friends of Melissa, we have started this GoFundMe to support her during a very challenging time in her life. Melissa has been facing serious health complications, & we wanted to come together to help relieve some of the financial burden so she can focus on her recovery.

Help Melissa Coia Heal & Recover

Melissa’s friends & I are starting this GoFundMe for In March of 2025, Melissa Coia began what she hoped would be a life-changing journey toward better health. Over the course of the year she underwent several major surgeries, including gastric bypass, a complete hysterectomy, & gallbladder removal. The hope was that these procedures would allow her to finally take control of her health & begin a new chapter.

Unfortunately, the months that followed brought unexpected challenges.

During the summer, Melissa’s son began experiencing seizures related to an old baseball injury. While things seemed to improve for a time, November brought another serious setback for Melissa when she developed a rare complication from her gastric bypass surgery. This required yet another major surgery to revise the bypass.

Since then, Melissa has faced ongoing complications & has been in & out of the hospital while doctors work to stabilize her condition & determine the best path forward.

Because of these health challenges, Melissa has missed a significant amount of work, creating a heavy financial burden. Medical bills continue to grow while everyday expenses like housing, food, & basic living costs do not stop.

Melissa’s doctors are currently consulting with specialists at the Cleveland Clinic in hopes of gaining additional insight into her complex condition. However, because Melissa works for a different hospital system, her insurance does not currently cover treatment there. We are praying that an exception can be made so she can receive the care she needs.

This fundraiser is being created to help Melissa & her son during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go toward:

• Medical bills & ongoing treatments

• Living expenses while Melissa is unable to work

• Potential travel & care costs related to a Cleveland Clinic consultation

Melissa has always been a strong, sweet, caring, & resilient person. Right now she is facing one of the most difficult chapters of her life, & any support -whether through donations, prayers, or sharing this fundraiser — would mean the world to her & her son.
