Help Melissa through Breast Cancer Treatment

Greetings! My name is Melissa. I’m 50, and after a couple of sketchy mammograms and a vacuum-assisted stereotactic biopsy last fall, I learned that malignant cells are lurking in my left breast, so tomorrow I’ll have a double-mastectomy with reconstruction (gee—that almost sounds like something you could order with a side of fries). I’ve been criticizing my boobs for decades, but I’m surprised at how sad I feel to have finally reached our last evening together.

I will be taking two months off work to recover, precious time that I am very grateful to have. But my income will be substantially depleted, and my medical bills don’t care, heartless things that they are.
