*** UPDATE***
As you all know I had hoped to bring him home and help him on his way to recovery, however his condition took a turn for the worst and he passed away early in the morning of March 18. I would like to now take him home so all his family and friends can pay their respects. Thank you for all the support and prayers. He is now resting with his lord and savior, Jesus Christ. No more pain and no more doctors, just eternal rest.
My name is Melissa, and I am reaching out for support as I travel back and forth to Phoenix to care for my boyfriend, Elias Arreola, who is currently in the hospital. He underwent emergency back surgery in February. Unfortunately, he experienced post-operative complications that required him to return to the hospital. After receiving treatment, he was able to begin rehabilitation, but he has recently suffered another setback and is now back in the hospital.
In our small town of Taos, chances are you know Elias or have at least heard of him. He is a hard worker, kind to everyone he meets, and loves to give his friends a hard time in the most loving way. Elias is always willing to lend a hand, rarely complains, and tries to keep a positive attitude no matter what he’s facing. His generosity and spirit have touched so many people in our community, and I know he’s eager to get back to the friends, family, and neighbors who mean so much to him.
This has been an incredibly challenging time for both of us, and being far from home makes it even harder. Elias means the world to me, and I want to be there for him as he works toward recovery. The funds raised will help cover my travel expenses, lodging, and some of Elias’s medical costs while I stay by his side. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference in our lives during this difficult journey.
