Help Melissa Recover from Severe Motorcycle Crash
Donation protected
Hello to all my fellow bikers and friends,
I wanted to take a moment to ask for help. My mom, Melissa, was in a nearly fatal motorcycle accident back on 3/20/25. A truck cut her off and she crashed. She fractured her frontal face area, broke her bottom teeth out, broke her arm, and broke her rib, which punctured her lung and required a breathing tube to drain the blood. Her CRF250 is also totaled, which has her really depressed. I bought it for her for her birthday, and riding really brought joy to her life. She's 61 years old and lives on her own, so the bike was her joy.
She was in the Grapevine Baylor White ICU for 7 days, where they were able to stabilize her and complete the successful surgery of putting screws and plates in her arm. She just had her first checkup on that yesterday, and it appears to be healing without infection, which is great. She gets the staples taken out next week. Though she's healing, she's still in severe pain due to all the broken bones and lung injury.
The hard part is that she will still need surgery on her face and then teeth surgery to drill out the three roots in her bottom jaw where the teeth holding her bridge in snapped out, and her Medicaid insurance doesn't cover any dental work. Her top dentures are also broken, and I'll have to figure that out as well.
I was hoping to ask for support from my community so we can get her bottom teeth surgery done and replace her top and bottom teeth. Even a small amount helps. The few dentists she's visited are saying it will be right at $3000 to drill the 3 broken roots out, fix the bottom bridge and replace the top dentures which would bring her top and bottom teeth back to 100%. Her church has been helping by donating food, giving her rides, and coming to visit, but she's still in need of support.
Once the funds are raised, 100% will be paid directly to the dental surgeon, and if there's any remainder, 100% of that will be paid directly to melissa to help towards any of the other crash related medical bills and injuries.
I've had the pleasure of meeting and riding with many of you from the DFW area over the past 15 years of my time as a biker, and I've personally seen how everyone comes together for each other in times of need. I still remember when you all helped me when I crashed and broke 5 ribs, and I really appreciate everything. Riding has changed me and my mom's life, it gives us joy and has given us many friends to enjoy life with. I love you all as my family and appreciate anything you can do to help.
