Help Melissa Rebuild After Domestic Violence

My name is Melissa, and I am reaching out for help during the most difficult time of my life. Recently, I survived an attempted murder by my spouse while I was holding my toddler son and five months pregnant with his son. During the attack, I suffered major head trauma, brain bleed from multiple blows to the head, which has left me with severe memory loss and the need for ongoing neurological care to prevent seizures from brain bleeding and swelling. I am very fortunate that my son was unharmed during the incident, He has been returned to me by CPS, and the case is ongoing.

After the attack, I was unconscious for two days on a ventilator and was care flighted from Bay City Hospital to Flint Hurley, where I finally woke up. I am currently almost 20 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy, and I am grateful every day for the chance to recover and rebuild. Since being released from the hospital, I have been trying to rebuild our lives from the ground up. I am facing the urgent need to relocate to a safe place, cover mounting medical bills, pay for everyday expenses, and manage lost wages while I recover. Child care is also a pressing concern as I work to provide a secure environment for my children.

I am not originally from Michigan and have lived in Bay City for almost two years after relocating from Las Vegas, Nevada. Returning home without any family or friends nearby has been incredibly hard, but the support I’ve received from those around me has meant the world. I am deeply grateful for any help you can offer as I work to heal, reunite with my son, and create a safe future for my family.

my plan is to relocate out of Michigan closer to friends and family. However the support in my local community has been amazing. I’m being forced to stay while I go to see court dates and CPS court dates for my kids.

The person who did this not have the mental capacity to stay away, even though he currently has a two-year PPO. We do not know on any jail time as of yet. But he will not be bailed out. He is currently sitting on 50k bail in bay city. He has a very bad TBI and has been off medication with refusing to go back on to help stabilize. After my head was based aginist the wall and floor several times he dragged me out to the car to take me Walmart to get TY, I don’t remember any of this thanks god as I was already unconscious. Apparently after returning home I started have a seizure in the car, which was when he called 911. He was arrested from the waiting room in the ER, our toddler was taken into state custody by CPS. I work up in flint hospital 2 days later not knowing what happened. Returned to a home a week later that was trashed by the cops. I ended up having to clean my own blood splatter off of 3 walls in the house. I have since be reunited with my son and my dogs.

my Partner was a stay at home dad. I know face full time childcare cost to return to work this week.
