Help Melissa & Michele after Devastating House Fire

Early this morning, a devastating fire completely destroyed the home of my mom, Melissa Johns (Burnworth), and my aunt, Michele Barber (Burnworth), in South Connellsville, PA. Thankfully, they and the animals, making an exception of one made it out (which we are still looking for) safely, but the house is a total loss. Everything they owned — clothes, personal belongings, important documents, medications, and memories — is gone. And unfortunately we don’t have any homeowners insurance 

This tragedy is even more difficult because my mom has serious health issues, including Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), a chronic liver disease that affects her mobility and energy. Losing her home has not only taken away her sense of security, but has added immense physical and emotional stress.

I live out of state and can’t be there in person right now, which makes this even harder. But I’m doing everything I can to support them from afar — and that’s why I’m asking for your help.

We’re raising funds to help cover:

• Basic necessities (food, clothing, toiletries)

• Replacement and essential medical supplies

• Pet care and support in searching for the missing cat

• Longer-term recovery and rebuilding efforts

My mom has always been a deeply kind and giving person, and she and my aunt have helped others through hard times without hesitation. Now, they need that same support in return.
