Help Melissa & Krystian with their IVF Journey

Writing this is so tough. My sister, Melissa, met the love of her life smack in the beginning of COVID. As soon as she met him, it was like she blossomed into this beautiful, kind, loving, HAPPY woman. He literally lit up her world. Prior to meeting Krystian, my sister found out she had a uterine anomaly, which could potentially cause infertility or difficulty with pregnancy. I never heard her speak of children until she met Krystian. He made her happy in a way I never imagined. The love they share is truly one of a kind. She’s her true self with him. They got engaged not long after beginning to date and they were married by October of 2021. Soon after the wedding, they began talking about children. And soon started trying. Unfortunately, trying turned into worrying and worrying turned into doctor’s appointments. The uterine anomaly was causing issues, and they needed to know the next steps. December 28 of last year, she had laparoscopic surgery, which was supposed to last a few hours, and it turned into almost 6 hours. The anomaly was not the only thing that was confirmed, but also endometriosis, and her tubes were also flushed. The doctor seemed really positive after the procedure, yet nothing was working. She had multiple appointments, Lupron injections, and other medications. ALL not covered by insurance. By June of this year, she was ready to give up but found a fertility clinic in Charlottesville. October 1st, they had their first IUI attempt and experienced their very first positive pregnancy test, which soon turned negative, and later found out, that it could have been a chemical pregnancy early miscarriage or just a false positive. But after the second (November 1st ) and third attempt (December 2nd) of IUI resulted in no pregnancy at all, they are at the next step of IVF. Due to her anomaly (which she prefers to keep private), IVF is complicated. Her fertility clinic offers a 100% back guarantee from IVF if it results in failed pregnancy. However, due to my sister’s special case, she was DENIED this benefit, as her chances are a lot smaller. This means, due to insurance NOT covering IVF, she would have to come out of pocket for it all. The cost is $20,000+ for ONE egg retrieval and ONE frozen transfer. One chance. For over $20,000. Make it make sense. NO ONE who is living in this country right now, who works a NORMAL job, and lives a NORMAL life, cannot afford that without going completely broke. My sister and her husband are at a crossroads. To help, Courtney (her childhood best friend, who has been there for her through it ALL, and my other “sister”) and I have decided to come up with a go fund me. If ONE person shares and this post reaches 100,000 people, and they all donate $1, they would have enough to try a few times. Yes, her chances are a lot smaller, and yes, you’d be taking that chance by donating, but think about the what ifs. My sister (and all of us who have struggled with fertility) deserves to have all of the happiness in the world. Melissa would make the BEST mother. She is so good with my son and Courtney’s children; we both just want her to be able to have a family of her own. We are doing this with the okay of her and Krystian, in hopes of just asking for prayers and donations to help them get started with IVF. Please, if you feel led, whatever you can do, it would be so appreciated by us. We love her so much and just want to help in the best way that we can. Thank you all so very much!!
