Help Melissa Heal and Support Her Kids

This fundraiser is for Melissa (DCDL) in Arizona. Melissa started having what she thought were seizures in August 2024. In December 2024, a CT scan showed that she has a severe Chiari Malformation. Because of her episodes, Melissa was forced to drop to part-time work and lost driving privileges.

The good news: there is a simple surgery that will help Melissa get better.

The bad news: Melissa is not permitted to work for the next month - both for surgery and recovery.

Melissa has three children at home who count on her income for their basic needs, and because she dropped to part time, Melissa doesn't qualify for temporary disability. Despite fighting with the Arizona government for months, Melissa still can't get basic food stamps.

Please help Melissa get through the next month. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.

I am managing this fundraiser on Melissa's behalf, as her current medical issues make even the most basic tasks extremely difficult. All funds will be provided to Melissa immediately when available.

Update, August 15, 2025: thank you so much to everyone who has donated. Surgery is Monday, and thanks to you, Melissa was able to afford surgery prep materials.

Now, more bad news: a monsoon storm hit Arizona where Melissa lives, and a tree fell on her car.
