My name is Kim Van Ocker, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister, Melissa. She is 44 years old, and a devoted wife and mother to five adult children and a step son.

Recently, Melissa received a devastating diagnosis: a very rare form of appendix cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, one of the top cancer centers in the country. While we are grateful she is in expert hands, the journey has been overwhelming — emotionally, physically, and financially.

Melissa is unable to work right now due to the intense demands of her treatment. Her family is struggling to cover the growing medical bills, daily living expenses, and the significant costs of travel and caregiving.

We urgently need help to:

Cover her medical bills and treatment costs not covered by insurance.

Provide caregiver support to help transport her back and forth between Texas and home.

Assist with living expenses so Melissa can focus entirely on healing.
