My beautiful sister Melissa was recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer at the young age of 37. Melissa has made frequent trips to Iowa City for radiation treatments and will eventually be starting chemo therapy. For being such a tiny thing, Melissa is mighty and one of the strongest people I know. She has been handling everything “Like a BOSS”. It is not easy for Melissa to ask for help as she is very self sufficient. We are blessed to have such close extended family to help support Melissa but realize the expenses that are accruing along with loss of wages may become overwhelming. As with any mother, Melissa’s main concern are her three young children aged 5, 8, and 11. It is understandable that you may want to express your support when you see Melissa out in public and on social media, feel free to do so, but please use discretion out of respect for her privacy and her children’s young ears and eyes while she determines how best to navigate through this process. If you know Melissa, humor and positivity will be a key component while she embarks on this journey. We would appreciate any prayers, positive vibes, and support you are able to provide at this time. In addition to this Go Fund Me page a benefit fund has been set up at Fidelity Bank & Trust in Oelwein, Melissa Meyer Benefit Fund. Also, we will be hosting a benefit event on March 9th at the American Legion in Oelwein, that will include a free will donation dinner, silent auction, and raffle. Words cannot express how very thankful we are to each and every one of you who have reached out with so much love and support and continue to do so.
Thank you so much!
