My name is Melissa Jeffries-Lanham, and I’m reaching out for help for myself and my daughter, Madison, during one of the most difficult times in our lives. I have been dealing with serious health problems, including pulmonary embolisms that almost cost me my life and, most recently, suffering two different types of heart attacks at the same time. These medical emergencies have made it impossible for me to work, and I’ve applied for disability, but the process is painfully slow. The Social Security Administration requires applicants to be nearly homeless before they’ll step in, and unfortunately, that’s a reality we’re now facing.

The funds raised here will go directly toward helping us stay in our apartment and avoid homelessness. They will also help me repair my car, which is essential for getting to doctor’s appointments and working toward earning an income again. Every bit of support will help us keep a roof over our heads and provide some stability for my daughter as we navigate this incredibly challenging time.

I absolutely hate asking anyone for help, especially when it comes to financial support, but I’m out of options and have almost lost hope in humanity. I don’t want my children to look at the world the same way I do. I’m hoping, if anything, this can show them that good still exists in a world that sometimes feels consumed by hardship.
